Who Am I?

Often we don’t realize what an impact a simple turn of phrase can make. The words we choose to use have an amazing power in our lives.

I could tell you that I grew up in an abusive family – that I was homeless, and a drug addict, and a teenage mother. I could tell you that I have no formal education – how I dropped out of high school, and never went to college. I could tell you about my divorce. I could tell you about the year in my life when everything went wrong – and how when I shook my fist at the sky and asked what else could possibly happen to make my life suck more – my house burned down.

Or, I could tell you how I was born with a switch-blade intellect and a drive to survive, no matter what. I could tell you how I learned to be self-sufficient, to be resilient, to conquer demons, and to heal. How I learned what it really means to love. How I learned that a hungry mind, a good attitude and a willingness to work hard can get you anywhere you want to go in life. How I learned that love makes no mistakes. I could tell you about the year that I lost everything in the world that I thought was important – and how it helped me discover what truly matters to me.

Both of these stories are true – but the words one chooses to use make an enormous impact in life. Which person would you rather meet?

This is my site. It’s all about the words I like, the quotes I ponder, and the messages I wish I heard repeated more. It’s where I speak to the world in the way I’d like to be spoken to.

This is where I am rewriting my history. This is where I am defining my perspective. I am a work in progress, and this site is a rough draft of myself, in real time. There are some big improvements going on behind the scenes here, so please keep checking back.

These are my verballistics – shot straight from the hip, always. I hope you enjoy. :)
